Now is the time for farmers to unite – and the place to do it is at Low Carbon Agriculture Show 2025

The UK farming industry is facing some of its toughest challenges in recent memory. From Government policy changes on Inheritance Tax to pressures on land use and environmental regulations, British farmers are under immense strain.

But one thing is clear: unity is our strongest tool.

Now, more than ever, farmers must stand together, share knowledge and adapt for the future. The Low Carbon Agriculture Show 2025 provides the perfect platform for this collaboration. Held on March 5-6, 2025, at NAEC Stoneleigh, this event will bring together industry leaders, policymakers and innovative farmers to discuss the future of British agriculture. If you're looking to ensure the success of your farm in an ever-changing landscape, this is the place to be.

Government challenges

Recent developments have left the farming industry frustrated and disillusioned. The Treasury has firmly rejected negotiations on proposed changes to Inheritance Tax, leaving many farming families in a precarious position.

NFU President Tom Bradshaw said: "We want to work with the Treasury, but they have slammed the door firmly in everyone's face once again."

Despite the farming industry presenting a practical ‘clawback' mechanism – whereby tax would be paid only if an inherited farm was sold – the Government has refused to listen.

It has left many feeling abandoned, with farming representatives calling the policy ‘morally bankrupt'. The impact on tenant farmers is equally dire.

George Dunn, chief executive of the Tenant Farmers Association (TFA), called the recent discussions ‘one of the most unproductive meetings' he had experienced in 28 years.

He and other farming leaders argue that the policy unfairly targets farming families while failing to address the real issues of land ownership and wealth distribution.

The future of land use

Beyond tax policy, another major shift is underway: the Land Use Framework.

With increasing demands on farmland for food production, biodiversity, renewable energy and carbon reduction, farmers need clarity and support.

The Low Carbon Agriculture Show 2025 will offer vital insights into how the Land Use Framework will shape future farming policy, practical strategies for balancing productivity with sustainability and opportunities for funding and diversification to secure farm profitability.

This is an opportunity for farmers to adapt and to lead the conversation and shape policies that work for them.

Why you need to be at the Low Carbon Agriculture Show 2025
