 Talybont rams sell to 26,000gns – Clee Tompkinson and Francis, Talybont on Usk

New highs at the Talybont Welsh ram sale saw Lewis Pritchard, Crickhowll, sell a yearling ram for 26,000gns to Rob Davies, Brecon, setting a new breed record.

Usk Vale flock sets Texel ewe record – Harrison and Hetherington, Carlisle

A 2021-born Texel ewe from Willy Davies and Paul Rowlands, Llandrindod Wells, sold for 45,000gns at Carlisle to Messrs Powell, Ross on Wye.

A centre record for a Lincoln Red bull – Melton Mowbray Market

Holegate Bandit consigned by Ed Middleton, Spilsby, sold for 10,000gns to Graham Parkinson, Donnington on Bain setting a centre record for the breed.

South Country Cheviot female record smashed – C and D Marts, Longtown

An in-lamb South Country Cheviot gimmer from James Cochrane, Castle Crawford, sold for 2,200gns at the breed society sale which was a new female record.

British Friesian bull sets centre record – Harrison and Hetherington, Carlisle

Whinnow Gateway, a British Friesian bull from the Blamire family, Thursby, sold for 10,000gns at Carlisle setting a centre record. The buyer was the Tincknell family, Somerset.

Longhorn heifer sells for 6,000gns – McCartneys, Worcester

Setting a new record for a senior Longhorn heifer when selling for 6,000gns at Worcester was Melbourne Park Kiggle from Ben and Tori Stanley, Derbyshire, which sold to Ben and Jennifer Sutton, Monmouth.

Valais Blacknose record of 30,000gns – Harrison and Hetherington

A breed record of 30,000gns was set at the Valais Blacknose national show and sale for the female champion, the in-lamb ewe, Ayrshire Ingrid from Tom Blackwood, Stewerton, which sold to Anthony Barney, Bala.

New records set at Badger Face Welsh Mountain sale – McCartneys, Brecon

Setting a new ram lamb breed record of 2,250gns at Brecon was a lamb from Gareth Jones, Felingwn, which went to Aron Hemmings, Llanfynydd.

Melton Christmas cattle champion sells for record breaking £16,000 – Melton Mowbray Market

Selling for £16,000 which is thought to be the highest price ever for a Christmas primestock animal, was a British Blue cross heifer from Charlotte and Georgia Davies, Gadersby, which sold to Philip Menday of The Bell Hotel, Winslow.

Bluefaced Leicester female record of 14,500gns – Harrison and Hetherington, Carlisle

A ewe hogg from Messrs Lord's Hewgill flock, North Stainmore, sold for 14,500gns at the Classy Ladies sale at Carlisle setting a new female record for the breed. The buyer was Messrs Hallam, Settle.

Hereford bulls smashes breed record – Halls, Shrewsbury

The 2024 Hereford bull of the year, Rempstone 1 Alpha N688 sold for 18,000gns at Shrewsbury, achieving a new breed record. Consigned by M. Ludgate, Thame, it sold to W. Shaw, Pickering.

Chaileybrook flock smashes Southdown record – McCartneys, Worcester

A new Southdown breed record of 6,500gns was set at the Platinum Celebration sale at Worcester held to mark 70 years of Jonathan Long and family's involvement with the breed. The record breaker was a three-crop ewe which sold to James Langmead, Alton.
