STIRLING BULL SALES: Limousins achieve 9,500gns top price

Limousin bulls sold to a 9,500gns high, to average £4,652, down £143 on the year, with a clearance rate up 5 per cent on 2019 at 70 per cent.

Sale leader was Homebyres Potter from Archie MacGregor, Kilsyth, Glasgow. Bred by J. Logan, Kelso, the April-2019 born bull by Fieldson Alfy was bought from the Homebyres dispersal with its mother, Homebyres Lollie. It sold to J. F. and M.B. Teague, Balerno, Edinburgh.

Making 8,200gns for J.R. MacGregor, Milton of Campside, Glasgow, was February 2019-born Dyke Pacman. By 12,000gns Goldies Lordoftherings, Limousin champion and sale leader at Stirling in February 2017, and out of Dyke Mull, it was knocked down to E. and M. Simpson, Inverurie.

Homebyres Plumber, a May-2019 born bull by Wilodge Cerberus, out of Homebyres Greedie, from Allan Campbell, Lanark, sold for 6,000gns. The buyers were A.J. MaClean, Isle of Tiree.

The Irving family, Drummuir, sold March 2019-born Anside Pikachu for 5,500gns. Another Cerberus son, out of Shire Diana, it sold to the Scottish Government Bull Stud, Inverness.

Four bulls sold for 5,000gns. First was another from J.R. MacGregor, Dyke Phantom, a January-2019 born Dyke Triumph son, which sold to T.L. Stirling, Carrbridge.  


A second 5,000gns call was made for Maraiscote Panama, a 20-month-old bull from J. Nimmo, Wishaw. The Bassingfield Machoman son was bought by G.T. and S. Goghill, Orkney. 

Third at this price for D. and L. Graham, Blairdrummond, was another 20-month-old bull bull, Burnbank Performer, by Mereside Lorenzo. The buyers were D.S. Stark and Sons, Inchture.

The final 5,000gns bid came in for Lomond Prince, an April-2019 born Whinfellpark Lomu son from Andrew Orr, Kinross. It sold to C. Davies, Eglwyswrw, Pembrokeshire.
