A farm in Surrey has had to temporarily close after positive infections of E-coli were traced in indivduals.
Hobbledown, a farm park and zoo based in Epsom, has confirmed that a small number of E-coli cases were found in people who had visited the centre between July 11 and July 27.
The UK Health and Security Agency (UKHSA) and Epsom and Ewell Borough Council have conducted testing at the site for the bacteria which can be transmitted from touching infected animals and can cause a number of symptoms including diarhorria and stomach cramps.
Nick De Candole, owner of Hobbledown, said the business has contacted customers who visited the park between the aforementioned dates and hopes to reopen the farm again soon once it is safe.
"After learning of this we immediately and voluntarily closed the Park as a precaution.
"We are offering those who have booked to visit while we are closed options to reschedule or a full refund, plus 50% off next visit.
"I can assure everyone that the wellbeing of visitors to Hobbledown is our absolute priority and we do everything in our power to keep guests safe.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone back soon."
Trish Mannes, regional deputy director for UKHSA South East, said the organisation would put precautionary measures in place to prevent further cases after warning a small number of people could sustain ‘serious outcomes'.
