A NEW two-tonne cow sculpture has been unveiled at Smithills Open Farm, near Bolton, run by Anthony Grimshaw and family.

The cow, created by Bolton chainsaw sculptor Richard Goodwin, is the latest addition to the Carldanton pedigree Holstein herd at the farm.

Mr Goodwin created it in about four days from an ancient oak tree brought down on the farm during the storms.

I was delighted with it, said Mr Grimshaw. It is an amazing piece of work, right down to the veins on the udder.

Pictured with the cow are Anthony Grimshaw and farm manager Jenny White.
