The machinery on show at the Royal Highland features products and technology from the big brands in agriculture alongside premier dealers. Toby Whatley looks at some of key products.
- Claas
Claas is displaying a range of machinery from its grassland, tractor, materials handling and combine ranges.
New additions to the tractor range include Stage V emission-compliant Axion 800 and Arion 400 models.
New generation Liner two- and four-rotor rakes are being shown, in conjunction to the recently launched Quadrant Evolution large square baler.
Cited as a range particularly suited to Scottish harvest conditions, the Trion combine range is being shown following its launch in autumn 2021.
The new combine range is available with a choice of straw walker, single- and dual-rotor thrashing systems, automatic self-levelling and tracked or wheeled drive.
- JCB
Recently created dealer, Scott Agri, is representing JCB with a range of products from the manufacturers agricultural portfolio.
The Fastrac iCON will be displayed for the first time in Scotland.Launched earlier in the year, the iCON features a completely new operator interface and fully integrated IsoBus and GPS guidance options, a first for this range of tractors.
Alongside the new tractor, a range of telescopic handlers and loading shovels will be also be shown, including the fully electric 525-60E Loadall telescopic handler.
- Albutt
Attachment manufacturer Albutt will be showing its folding push-off buckrake for loading shovels and larger tractors.
Claimed to allow improvements in clamp productivity, the fork has a full working width of 4.26 metres, folding to 3m for road transport. The design uses twin folding wings in addition to a push-off gate.
The hydraulic system is configured to only require the use of one double-acting spool and uses an anti-collision valve to prevent the gate and wings colliding when folded. Optional LED work lights are fitted, alongside 1,650mm Hardox tines.
- Vicon
Vicon will be presenting a range of grassland, crop protection and baling products, including the non-stop FastBale and RV5200 Plus round balers.
The FastBale allows continuous round bale creation without stopping the empty the chamber. This has been updated to offer film-on-film crop packaging to remove the requirement for netwrap and stretch film to be carried.
The RV5200 Plus variable chamber round baler range is being shown for the first time in Scotland. It is supplied in two models, with maximum bale sizes of 1.65 metres and 2m respectively. Both models can be suppled with a 14-knife cutter unit fed from a 2.2m wide pickup.
- John Deere
John Deeres new 6R Series tractors and the manufacturers largest sprayer will be among the fleet of machines on show for the first time at the event.
The company announced the addition of four new models to its 6R range last November, including the four-cylinder 6R 150, which is aimed particularly at mixed farms.
The show will be the first time many farmers have seen the new models up close and it will be the debut Scottish outing for the new R975i sprayer.
It is the biggest trailed model the company currently produces, with boom widths of 24-40 metres and a 7,500-litre capacity.
- Yamaha
Yamaha will exhibit the widest range of its products for any UK event and the manufacturer is encouraging customers to order early to help mitigate longer production lead times and delivery delays.
The presented product range will include the Grizzly and Kodiak ATVs, in addition to its UTV and motorcycle products.
- Valtra
Finnish manufacturer Valtra is displaying the fifth-generation range of tractors from the A through to the T series, spanning 75 to 271hp.
In addition, the companys Smart Farming solutions will be demonstrated. This technology package includes GPS guidance, IsoBus, section and variable rate control.
Operated thorough the in-cab touch-screen, the system is claimed to offer improved communication and connectivity between the various machine operations.
- ScanStone
Scottish potato machinery manufacturer ScanStone will be showing the latest machine in its destoner line-up.
The TriStar comes with a marginally shorter chassis than the flagship 4 Webber, but gains increased output thanks to three rows of stars in the middle of the machine.
The stars are designed to increase the versatility and output of the destoner in conditions which suit their use.
Other characteristics, such as hydraulic controlled discs, dual-direction power scrubber web, variable-speed cross-conveyor, commercial-style axle and large-capacity stone box, remain as standard on the full range.
